Ladies Relief Society of South Crysler Restoration Branch

We are embarking on our second year of the Ladies Relief Society of South Crysler.  This year’s presidentess is Lori Laster.  Her counselors are Gayle Fleming and Lorrie Lankford.  The secretary is Rachael Prater and the treasurer, Pam Mark.  Our worship coordinator is Darcy Brotherton.

Again this year we will be conducting classes called Sisters Helping Sisters.  We are offering wonderful classes taught by our own sisters of the congregation.  The first series of classes focus on organization.  We will be having a class on Speed Cleaning, How to Prepare Meals Ahead of Time, Time Management, Getting Our Books in Order, Getting Ready for A Major Event/Class and Getting Ready for a Garage Sale.  We will also have a quilting class going on during the same period of time.  Other classes and activities are apple picking/preparing applesauce, a scripture study on preparing for the times to come, a Word of Wisdom food preparation demonstration, wild edibles class, and a gardening class.

Again this year we will be in charge of the Zionic Assistance Program under the leadership of Lynette Davis.  The ZAP program provides assistance to those in need.  The help may be in the form of taking someone to the doctor to sending in meals.

Mary Ann Erickson is heading up the Friendly Visiting program that we have at SCRB.  We are all looking forward to having this as part of the LRS.

Our community outreach is focused on Hope House, Children’s Mercy and the Sunshine Center.  We also have a Fall Giveaway that extends to the community.  At Thanksgiving we have baskets that are given to those in need and we also participate in the Angel Tree program at Christmas.  Christmas baskets are also given to those needing help. For Valentine’s Day we sponsor a party for Hope House.

Other events are as follows. October 28th, we will have a 9:00 prayer service with a brunch to follow.  In February we are having a retreat with the theme of “Prayer”.  In May we will have a Mother/Daughter Brunch.

The Ladies Relief Society is also involved with numerous other activities and events that occur at church.  We are responsible for the Church Thanksgiving Dinner, baby and wedding showers, cards to ill and grieving members and meals to families with newborn babies.

We are looking forward to a blessed year of service and fellowship with our sisters.  We also look forward to serving our Lord through outreach to our community.  May the Lord’s blessings be upon all of the endeavors of our Restoration Women’s groups.
