COLBERN ROAD

The Colbern Road Women's Department keeps busy.  Besides a monthly meeting or
retreat, we have on-going activities/services such as secret sisters, visiting the elderly, and taking meals to the sick, injured, new mothers, etc.

We send care packages to our college students and people in service.  These packages contain things such as personal hygiene items, school supplies, baked goods/treats, and a card letting that person know we are thinking and praying for him/her.  This program was well received and appreciated from the comments we have gotten.

Small group dinners have been a yearly activity but, by request, we are having them
quarterly this year.  These dinners are held in homes with 4-6 women attending each
one.  We are in the process of planning October's dinner and will have seven hostesses.  In the past we have placed ladies of the same age group in the homes but we feel it is important to get to know our sisters better that are geographically in the same area so we are dividing up our ladies by locations.  Each lady is asked to bring a dish to pass.  The hostess provides the beverage and dessert.  The women's department provides the bread and usually a devotion and/or topic for the get-together.  All these dinners start at the same time, on the same day.  Even though approximately 40 ladies will be in seven different homes, they will be united in devotion and prayer.  This activity is a good avenue in helping our sisters get to know each other better and has drawn out our younger ladies who sometimes feel they are not old enough for  women's department!

This year we are excited about a new activity...”the traveling plate”.  We have a lovely plate with a nice verse about friends and family inside a basket.  Under the plate is a list of all the ladies (active and inactive) in the branch.  When a lady receives the plate, she crosses her name off and gets it to the next lady on the list.  On the plate, she can put baked goods, flowers, whatever she feels may be appreciated by the lady she is giving it to.  We are hoping to pleasantly touch each lady, making her feel special, and letting her know she is a part of our family.

Everyone is invited to join us at
Colbern Road for our annual  ‘Woman To Woman Retreat ‘ in November for a spiritually uplifting day of inspirational speakers, dramas, and music.
