On-line Books
A variety of Restoration church books are available on-line at the
centerplace.org library. You must be
connected to the Internet in order to read these books.
Downloadable Books
Some church books are also available for download to your PC or handheld device
(such as a Palm PDA or Pocket PC PDA). These can be viewed without being connected to the
Internet and can even be carried with you if you have a handheld device.
Many electronic book formats exist in the industry, each of which requires a corresponding
application (called a reader) in order to read the book. Some electronic book readers
are free and come preinstalled with the PDA while other readers are not.
Generally speaking, Palm PDAs already have the Palm Reader and Pocket PC PDAs already have Microsoft Reader.
Since Palm and Pocket PC are competing products, the readers are not available on
both types of PDA. Consequently, if you have a Palm PDA, you would be interested in
books in Palm Reader format; if you have a Pocket PC, you would be interested in
books in Micrsoft Reader format. At this time, no restoration books are available in
Microsoft Reader format, although there are plans to develop them. It is for this reason
that some books here are provided in TomeRaider format (since the TomeRaider reader is available on
Palm and Pocket PC).
Listed below are electronics books in various formats available for you to download.

Creating E-Books for your PDA
This is a whole topic unto itself which will not be explained in much detail here.
However, to get you started, here are some quick tips.
- Microsoft Reader Books. Microsoft Reader books can
be created using Microsoft Word after you have installed the
Microsoft Reader Add-in for Word
on your home computer. Books you create can be viewed on your home computer using
the free Microsoft Reader for Windows.
- Palm Reader Books. These can be created using software from
Palm Digital Media.
The free software called
Palm DropBook
is available and requires some effort to format your electronic book using the
Palm Markup Language. Their commercial Palm eBook Studio software
can make this conversion effort easier. Books you create can be viewed on your
home computer using the
free desktop Palm Reader.
Tips on converting text files to Palm format are available
here.
- TomeRaider Books. These can be created using the
TomeRaider Reader for Windows
software on your home computer. TomeRaider help menu explains how to create
the books.
- BDicty Dictionaries. These can be created for free by submitting a text
file through the
BDicty website.
