About the Quarterlies
The education council has been promoting standardization of church school to the
independent restoration branches. In this process, the education council is producing
an inclusive standardized curriculum which is based on the Quarterlies that the church
produced in the early years.
The council has revised and updated these quarterlies to help insure that our children
are taught the principles of the gospel, as well as the ordinances and sacraments of
the church. The Course A Quarterlies cover the life and ministry of Jesus Christ
(New Testament Apostles), Course B covers the Book of Mormon, and Course C covers
Doctrine and Covenants and church history.
Each course is documented in a curriculum map. The curriculum map identifies each
principle of the Gospel and the peaceable things of the Kingdom that the child has
covered in the material. That is a very important tool for ensuring that we have covered all
the material a child needs to know by the time they leave Senior High.
We know that in our mobile society today, many families move from one branch to
another and it is, therefore, difficult for our children to receive a comprehensive
and complete church school education. This program would allow continuity of
information no matter where you would attend. We also know that obtaining adequate
teaching materials is a challenging task for small or isolated groups. It is with
these thoughts in mind that we are presenting this material for your consideration
and use. We hope that as we unite in a common course of study, we might also be united
in one heart and mind toward the building of the kingdom.
These quarterlies are to be used on a three year rotating basis. For example,
the first year is A, the second year is B, and the third year is C. Each year is
divided into four quarters, such as A1 is October, November, December; etc.
The following is a list of the materials that we have prepared that are now available
for your use.
